“Summerland” is Drimpton Film Club’s September offering at Drimpton Village Hall.
Directed by Jessica Swayle. Alice Lamb (Gemma Arterton) is an investigative folklore debunker writing academic theses and is immersed in her research. She is independent, argumentative, decidely crotchety and reviled by the villagers. One day she opens her door and finds Frank (Lucas Bond), an evacuee, who has been assigned, unknowingly, to her. Reluctantly she agrees to have him for a week but Alice discovers that Frank’s curiousity, innocence and joy for life awakens thoughts of a past love in Alice’s early life. Tom Courtnay and Penelope Wilton play minor roles.
