The White Lion

Spike & Vikki at The White LionSpike & Vikki welcome you!

The White Lion is a delightful 17th century village inn in the heart of the Dorset countryside, where King Charles II took refuge in 1651 before fleeing to France. Offering good home-cooked food, beautifully kept Palmers ale, with a warm and friendly Dorset welcome and open log fires to warm the soul in the winter.

The White Lion
Another major community hub  – our village pub, the only pub in the village!  You’ll have to travel to Drimpton or Beaminster to find the next one. Dog friendly too!
They remained open for as long as they were permitted due to Government regulations because of Covid-19. They were then supplying & delivering cooked meals to the socially isolated and elderly in the village until this too had to cease.  You can still buy Vikki’s quiches (large & small), lasagne, cottage pie and other freshly prepared dishes at our Shop.
Vikki’s scrumptious home-made meals are generously portioned and all food allergies or sensitivities can be catered for.  Her desserts had a major effect on what was the Book Club – they became the Book & Pudding Club and now are more accurately and  affectionately referred to as the Pudding Club.

Tuesday night is Fish ‘n’ chips night!

L & F Fish'n'Chips

L & F ‘s mobile Fish ‘n’ Chip van usually parks in the square just after 6pm on a Tuesday night and packs up at 8pm.  Spike and Vikki invite you to take your fish ‘n’ chips in to eat them there, providing plates, condiments and even tartare sauce if required! and of course, you can enjoy a drink with your food.

Also on a Tuesday night – well, the first Tuesday of each month, is Jam Session night!
Kicking off at around 7.30pm, musicians and singers are invited to bring their instrument (or voice).  All are welcome.
Under 18’s are welcome too but must be accompanied by an adult.

The White Lion in Broadwindsor was the first of Palmer’s Brewery pubs – find out more about their ales HERE.
