Use Scout Post This Christmas

As they did last year, with an extensive delivery list, the Scout Group are offering to post your Christmas cards for only 30p! A first class stamp is 95p and a second class, 68p.

Most households will have already received a leaflet through their letterbox. Going Green – they will be phasing them out gradually over the coming years in response to feedback.

  • No stamp required!
  • Please check the address you are sending to is in one of their delivery areas.
  • Please ensure your card is correctly addressed and include the postcode if you know it.
  • Post your greetings cards in one of our many Yellow Post Boxes together with 30p for each card, they will do the rest 🙂
  • Deliveries are made by our small army of adult volunteers.
  • 100% proceeds will go directly to Scout Funds.

Delivery Areas:

PLEASE NOTE: There are changes to their delivery areas each year and they are unable to deliver outside of these areas or to overseas.

Can You Help?

They need willing volunteers who are able to spend four to five hours spread over a two week period at the beginning of December to sort or deliver Scout Post in our area.  Volunteers provide a useful and popular community service as well as raising much needed funds to support your local Scout Groups. You will be making a real difference to local young people and be giving something back to the community. Don’t delay, please contact: scoutpost@dwdscouts.org.uk

Scout Post is run by Dorchester & West Dorset District Scout Council
Charity registration no: 1039833

A list of cards they are unable to deliver will be held until the 12th of January and listed on the District Website – click HERE.

The Churchfitters Christmas Cracker – Saturday, 17th December.

The Churchfitters is a folk band like no other. A double bass made out of a saucepan. Heart-wrenching vocals accompanied by a musical saw or a glass harp. Foot-stompingly fast fiddle mixed with infectious funk-rock rhythms. And traditional tunes reinvigorated with mesmerising jazz sax.

Performing at The Comrades Hall on Saturday, 17th December, you’re advised to get your tickets early for a show preparing you for Christmas with their repertoire, traditional and original festive songs, surprises, novelties and of course – what you get in every Christmas cracker – bad jokes!

The three virtuoso musicians from England and France strut their stuff on a stage that bristles with instruments – adding flute, banjo, dulcimer, tin whistle, guitar, ukulele, electric hub-cap bass-bouzouki and a sackful of percussion to their ensemble. And let’s not forget the unique ‘bing-bong’ machine made out of hack-saw blades!
Read more about the musicians HERE.

Tickets £10 & £5 for under 18s. Refreshments available.
In advance from Margaret Wing: 07796 454203 or email margaretmwing@gmail.com.
