What was the Broadwindsor Craft and Design Centre relaunched coming out of Covid-19, on June 30th 2020 under the name: REDLANDS YARD.
Situated in the heart of West Dorset’s beautiful rolling countryside. They offer a fusion of independent shopping, beauty & personal services and good food with exceptional hospitality, creating a true destination visitor experience.
For over 30 years, this space has been a local and visitor favourite and under the ownership of Colin & Sarah Williams. Sarah was born to a farming family in the village and worked in the restaurant at the Craft Centre (as Redland’s Yard was known for a very long time) as a Saturday girl for many years. Today, it is very much a family run business, with the emphasis on a friendly, welcoming atmosphere to create an enjoyable experience. They were excited to continue in the long-standing tradition of bringing people together and celebrating all that is unique and wonderful about West Dorset and the Jurassic Coast.
Redundant farm buildings on the edge of the village were the starting point in 1986 for this unique venture. Redland’s Yard, still as The Craft Centre underwent a major transformation in 2002 when an extension was built from locally quarried stone. This allowed the additions of two further rooms in the main gift shop, including a dedicated toy room. The main shop gallery was also opened at this time displaying pictures, lighting, fireside tools, fire guards and log baskets.
In 2012 they opened the Gallery of Makers, exhibiting many talented artists from the local area all under one roof.
Completely refurbished in 2018, their restaurant and conservatory offered an attractive and comfortable setting, with free Wi-Fi throughout. The wonderful food and themed dining evenings were very popular.
Coming out of Covid-19 lockdown, we welcome Redlands Yard.
Under the leadership of Colin and Sarah, the area has quickly developed a voice of its own now makes way for a new creation to continue on with the legacy of the community hub, through what will grow as Redlands Yard, where it will continue to provide a welcoming atmosphere, a friendly experience and a place where many happy memories will be made, for years to come.

On 3rd August, 2020 they opened the Stableyard Restaurant, which has been taken over by local, Linda Paget.
