Y6 Village Bus service from Monday, 11th May
A revised bus service will be introduced between Bridport and Yeovil, with effect from this coming Monday 11 May, operating Mondays to Fridays (Bank/ Public Holidays excepted) by Buses of Somerset as no. Y6.
Bob Driscoll Chairman of WATAG – (Western Area Transport Action Group) commented: “This is a ‘one bus’ operation and, I assume, will continue until such time as travel restrictions are eased. We still await a response from Councillor Ray Bryan regarding the long term solution for this corridor. Whilst demand for this service will be minimal, the new timetable is a vast improvement to the existing one, and allows a shopping trip to either Bridport or Yeovil, as well as giving residents of Broadwindsor and Mosterton the opportunity of an “out and back in the same day” journey that has been denied to them since the beginning of April.”

Friday celebrates the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe. The weatherman predicts a hot day so timetable yourself to sit out in your garden 2-4pm (or anytime really!) with a cream tea, cake or something a bit stronger and give thanks to those who were brave then and to those who are being brave now, whether it be on the NHS front line combatting the Covid-19 virus or dealing with a house full of children and no respite. These are indeed strange times.

We will be policing our roads and other transport networks over the bank holiday weekend and ask you not to travel.
If we stop vehicles and they are travelling to a second home we will ask them to return to their primary residence.
Essential travel does not include visits to second homes, camp sites, caravan parks or similar, whether for isolation purposes or holidays. People must remain in their primary residence.
We’ve been given additional powers to fine those refusing to follow Government instructions so please stay home, protect the NHS and save lives.

Full Moon on 7th May
Traditionally, May’s Full Moon is known as the Flower Moon as it appears at the time of blossoming flowers. Scientifically, the Full Moon occurs at 11.45am on Thursday, May 7th so will look at it’s fullest on late Wednesday night and just before 9pm Thursday evening when the Moon rises (Look East to see the moon rise). It is also defined as a Supermoon*, not the biggest or brightest but still qualifies as a Supermoon.
Simultaneously, the Eta Aquariids are at their peak but will be trickier to see because of the bright moonlight.
Also this month will be the planet Venus’ last full month in the western twilight sky for the year 2020.
*Any full Moon (or new Moon) coming closer than 224,865 miles (361,885 km), as measured from the centres of the Earth and Moon, counts as a Supermoon in 2020, according to NASA.

Shamefully, these photographs show a shade of green that does NOT fit into the landscape.
Do dog owners/walkers really need a step by step guide on what to do with their dog’s poo?
Well done! These particular dog owners/walkers have responsibly picked up their dog’s poo and even bagged it in a biodegradable bag. However, then tying it to the fence (Oh! I’ll collect it on the way back!) and leaving it there is not only irresponsible, it is disgusting and extremely disrespectful.
1. Pick it up.
2. Bag it.
3. Bin it!
So many complaints being made that the Parish Council issued an urgent notice last month.
You can report dog fouling directly to the department at Dorset County Council online HERE. A dog warden may then contact you and/or visit the area to assess how severe the problem is and take the appropriate action to deal with the problem.
It is very sad that, after over six weeks in lockdown, it is obviously local people allowing their selfishness and disregard for our beautiful surrounding area and other people’s health having their dog(s) poo on our doorstep!
