Drimpton Football Club (aka The Greens) were victorious today winning 3-2 against FC Barolo in the Quarter Finals of the Dorset Minor Cup.
Described by their manager, Andy Loudon as “a true game of 2 halves“, he summarised:
“A well below par first 45 minutes left the Greens with hard work to do against a strong Barolo team. A penalty and loose defending left Drimpton 2-0 down at half time.
A slight tactical change at half time and the Greens were soon back in the game after a surging run from Pav ended with a smart finish under the goalie. Throughout the game it was noted that the home goalie liked to stay high in his area and it would finally be exploited when Tim Hussey ran through and finished well from a tight angle. The home side ran out of ideas and didn’t like the Drimpton players snapping into tackles. The decisive goal came on the 75th minute mark. A goal ward shot from Adam Chant took a slight deflection pass the keeper. Despite some late pressure Drimpton held on to book their semi final slot.
Their manager continued- First half was a poor performance. We weren’t quick enough to the ball and were very slow when in possession. Second half we done everything right. Closed them down and got in their faces. A very, very good win against a very strong team who didn’t seem to know each other names! A very proud manager indeed. One of the best wins as a manager. Thank you all ”
