Village Resident Has Dog Poo Bags Thrown In Garden

An anguished plea has come from village resident, Adrian Gray who resides at The Hayes, opposite Common Water Lane in Broadwindsor:
Please can those who walk their dogs along the private track in front of my property at The Hayes please stop doing so.
I understand that the public path by the church is overgrown but since you have now taken to throwing your bagged up dog mess into my front garden, I really don’t think I should put up with your trespass anymore.”

PLEASE, PLEASE – BE A RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNER!

You can report dog fouling directly to the department at Dorset County Council online HEREA dog warden may then contact you and/or visit the area to assess how severe the problem is and take the appropriate action to deal with the problem.  However, local councillor David Leader has asked if you have any information on dog fouling to contact him on: 01308 868274 or 07867 608652.

A Great Big Thank You!

A great big thank you to all the wonderful people who gave up their Sunday morning to make a start on the tidy up of Bernards’ Place and the areas around the Comrades Hall. We thought we would end up with a few dumpy bags of waste but ended up with a skip load. It was a fantastic community effort. There are too many hardy soles to name everyone individually, a sincere thank you to you all.
All the play equipment is now open apart from the large swing which needs some further attention.
The baby swing has got to be removed as it does not meet current standards.
All the other equipment has had the work done to it rectify faults identified in the recent RoSPA report 🙂
There are lots of plans for Bernards’ Place and for the Comrades Hall being considered, as these plans develop we will share them with all of you for your thoughts.
With my sincere thanks

David Leader

Buy Your Handmade Facemasks Locally

Handmade By LeoniWearing a face covering will become mandatory in all shops and supermarkets in England from 24 July 2020.  Shop workers, however are excluded.
Those who fail to wear a mask will face a fine of up to £100. This will be reduced to £50 if people pay within 14 days. The rules will be enforced by the police and not the shop workers.
There are several people who live in the village making face coverings at home, some as a business and others with their proceeds, or a percentage of, going to a charitable organisation.

  • There is Leoni Rawle at Redlands Lane, who is offering a wide range of 100% cotton fabrics with over 70 different designs to choose from. The photograph shows Toni Rodway from The Painted Nail wearing one of Leoni’s facemasks (with sausage dogs on it!).
There is a sleeve/pocket in the lining for optional addition of filters.
There is also a small metal strip to fit the contour of the face for a more comfortable fit and prevents glasses from steaming up.
Handmade By LeoniMade to order, machine washable, the choice of sizes are: Child, Teenager, Small Adult & Adult.
They are £5 each with a discount for orders of 10 or more.
If unable to collect, Leoni offers First Class postage at £1 for one, £1.30 for two or more.
Message Leoni on Facebook HERE or on her mobile: 07724 612174.
  • There is Jacqui Sewell who has been selling and continues to sell masks at the Post Office on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Masks made by Robin Loudon are £2 each with proceeds to the Post Office Group & Jacqui’s pleated Masks at £2.50 each with 50p each proceeds going to The Post Office Group.
If you’re unable to get to the Post Office, contact Jacqui through her Facebook page HERE or by email: jacquisewell@me.com.
  • There is Linzi, who operates her Handmade By Linzi business mainly through Facebook.  A selection of her many fabrics are shown below. Linzi offers cotton face coverings,  again, handmade to order£3 each plus p&p £1.40.  They measure approx 22cm x 12cm (Adults) with Teen and Child sizes available too.
