Thank You From Broadwindsor PTA

A BIG thank you to everyone who joined us on Monday’s walk and to all those who have sponsored. The total raised so far is £1000!

It was quite a climb…

Around 50 of us from Broadwindsor Primary School gathered to climb to the top of Lewesdon Hill.
We enjoyed lots of cake when we got there and some Pygmy goats even joined us to say hello!

It was wonderful to have  the school community come together and we hope to make it annual event.

Organised by the school’s PTA, Chairman Martin Burt commented “We are so lucky to have this on our doorstep and we hope that even the littlest legs can reach the top! For the past two years our sponsored walks were during lockdowns, so it will be lovely to enjoy a walk together this year!

Drimpton FC Thrash Ilminster FC, 8-1

Drimpton have moved into the semi finals of the Jack Venn Cup after an emphatic performance and result against Ilminster.
Match report:
The Greens wasted no time in getting their passing football going. Some of the passing was exquisite causing the visitors numerous problems early on. Adam Cody Boucher gave the hosts an early lead but were soon pegged back when the ball took a nasty bounce catching out the home defence and the Ilminster No 9 ran on to the ball poking home.
Drimpton then went up another gear and effectively finished the game with 2 further goals in the first half.
3 – 1 Drimpton half time.
The second half was a dominant performance with Drimpton playing some of their best football of the season. The one time passing and the movement off the ball was a joy to watch. Further goals were added by Adam Cody Boucher who got himself another hat trick, Pawel Ciereszko 2, OG, Josh Cousins and Frank Symonds completing the scoring.
Manager Andy Loudon added ” That was a very pleasing performance with us playing some lovely football. We were very ruthless in front of goal tonight and progress into the semi finals of the cup
The club have a very important fixture coming up this Saturday (9th April) when they host Shepton Beauchamp, the Greens will be hoping to get the point needed that will crown them champions of Divison 2.
Football
Kick off is at 14.30
and they would love to see as many people as possible cheering the Greens on.

Good Luck Drimpton FC!

Drimpton FC – Need One Point For Championship Title

The Perry Street & District League Division Two title is almost over and after drawing with Charmouth 1-1 on Saturday, 26th February, Drimpton FC now need just one point from their final two games to take the title.

Match Report:

In what was a very close cut contest this afternoon, Drimpton & Charmouth came away with 1 point each and the result leaves us needing just 1 point from our final 2 games to solidify us as Division 2 champions in the Perry Street League.
The game started with both teams enjoying spells of possession before Frank Symonds unleashed a shot from range which was comfortably saved before Charmouth tried a shot from distance which flew harmlessly over.
The first major chance fell to Drimpton after Adam Cody-Boutcher won the ball in the air and perfectly flicked it on for Adam Chant who shot just over when bearing down on goal.
The first half concluded with both teams scrapping for possession and the rest of the chances were shots from distance which left both ‘keepers relatively untroubled.
The second half began with a half chance for Drimpton after Tom Franklin cut out a pass which allowed Pawel Ciereszko to challenge for the ball in the air with the Charmouth ‘keeper but he just missed out on capitalising.
Charmouth then had a very good chance of their own after a good cross which saw a first time volley go over the bar.
Drimpton then got a bit of control of the game and the opening goal came from Frank Symonds who chased down a through ball which Charmouth’s ‘keeper came out for but then got caught in no man’s land which ultimately gave Symonds the time to pick out a perfectly lobbed finish.
Drimpton carried on with the same second half intensity from last week’s game against Charmouth but this was a game of few chances and this was largely in part to both teams defences playing very well throughout, however, there was nothing the Drimpton defenders could do as Charmouth equalised thanks to a stunning long range strike.
The equaliser took the sting out of the game and both teams finished an even match with a point apiece.
Drimpton now head into a 2 week break knowing that our destiny is in our own hands and only needing 1 point from the remaining 2 games to end the season as champions.
Manager, Andy Loudon, had the following to say: “On another day if we took our chances we’d have come away with all 3 points but I’m happy with 1 point and we know we only need 1 more to confirm ourselves as champions.”
Scorer: Frank Symonds

FootballAt their earlier game last month, they took 3 points after beating Charmouth 3-5
