Lent Lunches Begin Thursday, 15th February

Broadwindsor, Blackdown and Burstock churches begin their Lent Lunches this Thursday from 12.30pm – 2pm at the Comrades Hall, Broadwindsor. This will continue every Thursday for six weeks:

  • 15th February
  • 22nd February
  • 29th February
  • 7th March
  • 14th March
  • 21st March

Good Friday is on 29th March and Easter Sunday on 31st March.

The £5 charge will fetch you a hot bowl of soup with fresh bread, cheese and pickle, tea or coffee and a warm welcome with a smile 🙂

The mobile Post Office Van will be in attendance as usual on Thursdays, 9.15am- 10.45am.

However, the Coffee Club that normally runs from 9am-11am will be cancelled for Lent Lunches and begin again in April.

Last Tuesday Of Post Office In Comrades Hall

Today is the last day that the Post Office OutReach service will be inside the Comrades Hall. Opening at 10am until 12.30pm, teas and coffees will be available as usual.

More volunteers to serve refreshments are sought to support the new mobile van service which commences on Monday, 20th November at 12.15pm for one hour. Please enquire when visiting the Post Office.

Service times for Broadwindsor will be Mondays 12.15 – 1.15pm and Thursdays 9.15 – 10.45am in the Comrades Hall Car Park.

A Sneak Peek Into P.O.’s Mobile Van Service

Monday, 20th November at 12.15pm will be the first day when Steve and his team open their service for one hour at the Comrades Hall, Broadwindsor from their new mobile outreach van.

The Post Office Users Group will also be serving teas and coffees inside 🙂

Access will be from the rear of the vehicle with supportive handrails both sides and a ramp to be used for wheelchair/mobility scooter access.

Service times for Broadwindsor will be Mondays 12.15 – 1.15pm and Thursdays 9.15 – 10.45am.

Break In At Outreach Post Office

Outreach Postmaster, Peter Blakie arrived at the Comrades Hall this morning and discovered that the Post Office locked cupboard had been broken into and the locked cash box was emptied of £30-40 cash, which will no longer be left at the Comrades Hall.

Entry to the Hall can only be accessed by a key code which allows access to the key to open the front door.  The key was in the box this morning and the Comrades Hall Management Committee have taken the precaution of removing the key and the box is now covered should forensic evidence be required by the Police.

Nothing of value remains in the Post Office. The CH Management Committee meet next week. It is proposed that a new lock be put on the door as so many individuals and groups now have a copy of the key.  Anyone holding a key to the Comrades Hall is asked to return it to Jacqui Sewell at Krumbs, in Broadwindsor’s High Street.

Peter, who is celebrating his 64th birthday today was both surprised and saddened.

100 Club

The Broadwindsor’s Comrades Hall 100 Club draw will next take place  on Tuesday 1st Sept @ 11am in Comrades Hall.  Thank you Joyce for the information.

The Post Office Outreach service from Crewkerne will also be there 10am – 12.30pm.
