Launched on 30th July 2020, NASA’s Perseverance Rover is due to touchdown onto the surface of Mars, some 33.9 million miles away at 20:55 – 21.15 hours GMT this evening if all continues to go to plan.

The first successful flyby of Mars was on 14th–15th July 1965, by NASA’s Mariner 4.
On November 14th, 1971, Mariner 9 became the first space probe to orbit another planet when it entered into orbit around Mars.
The Soviet probes Phobos 1 and 2 were sent to Mars in 1988 to study Mars and its two moons, with a focus on Phobos.
