At Last! A New Speed Limit On Clanden Hill

Not before time – a new reduced speed limit of 40mph comes into effect on this Friday, 1st November.

Statement of Reasons
• For avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the roads, or any other road,
and for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
• To provide a safer environment for parents and children
• To help reduce the amount of pollution that school children are exposed to
outside schools

As shown below, the section of road on the B3163 will be reduced from 60mph to 40mph approaching the 20mph in our village.

Reduced Speed Limit Finally Approved

The Parish Council has for many years petitioned Dorset Council to reduce the speed limit on the B3163 past Broadwindsor Cricket Club and to the base of Clan Hill, which is currently 60 mph, reducing abruptly to 20 mph and introduce a transitional limit of 40 mph to ensure greater safety for all road users.

Last night, the Parish Council were delighted to report that this request has now been approved by Dorset Council.

The poor state of our roads and signage was raised as a matter to be discussed at their next meeting and they will be reviewing signs across the Grouped Parish over the coming months.

If you do see a sign which is not in good working order or have concerns about a particular part of the highway, please do get in contact: hello@broadwindsorgroup.gov.uk.

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Monday, 9th September, 7.30pm at Drimpton Village Hall.  All are welcome.
