The White Lion’s Lockdown Raffle

During the month of November, have a takeaway from the White Lion and you will automatically be entered into their Lockdown Raffle.  You will have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes including a Sunday Lunch for 2 (eat in or takeaway) when they reopen.

The Raffle will be held on their reopening night.

Palmers Copper Ale is Back at The White Lion

Vikki and Spike at The White Lion in Broadwindsor listen to their customers 🙂
They have reinstated Palmers Copper Ale replacing the IPA, due to popular demand. This now sits alongside the Palmer’s other Real Ale, Dorset Gold.

From September 9th the pub will be open:

  • WEDNESDAYS – 6pm – 10pm
    Food served: 6pm – 9pm
  • THURSDAYS – 6pm – 10pm
    Food served: 6pm – 9pm
  • FRIDAYS – 6pm – 10pm
    Food served: 6pm – 9pm
  • SATURDAYS – 3pm – 10pm

  • SUNDAYS – 12noon – 5pm

Thursday Meal Deal at The White Lion for August

Vikki at The White Lion is offering a Thursday evening EAT IN MEAL DEAL throughout the month of August 🙂
They are closed all day on Mondays and support L&F Catering with their Fish ‘n’ Chips van on Tuesday nights so Vikki decided to invite people to eat in and help out on a Thursday night which is not included in the Government’s national campaign but still helps out all involved.

From the limited menu (see below) if you buy one meal @ £9.95, you’ll get a second for only £5 😀

”Eat Out to Help Out’ aka “Dosh for Nosh”

Eat Out to Help Out - Rishi SunakAs well as cutting the VAT rate to 5% for hospitality and tourism sectors from July 15 until January 12, 2021, Chancellor Rishi Sunak has said everyone in the country will get the discount in an effort to get customers back into restaurants, cafes and pubs.
There will be a ‘simple website’ for those participating businesses to register on Monday, 13th July.

Meals eaten at any participating business from Monday to Wednesday during August will be 50% cheaper, up to a maximum discount of £10 per head for everyone (Adults & Children).

  • It covers any eat-in meal at any participating restaurant, cafe, pub or other eligible food service establishment across the UK during the month of August.
  • It can be used for food and non-alcoholic drinks.
  • It can be used “unlimited times”

This is only one scheme the Government have introduced to help improve the economy as part of their #PlanForJobs recovery plan.  They are also offering to pay businesses to hire young apprentices, with a payment of £2,000 and introducing a brand-new bonus to hire apprentices aged 25 and over, with a payment of £1,500.

The Knapp Inn Opens On Wednesday 8th July

The Knapp Inn, Beaminster.Leaving the village, drive East over Clan(den) Hill and you arrive at Beaminster.  The first pub you encounter on that road, past the school and on the right is The Knapp Inn.  Family run, led by Lel Waring, announced yesterday:
“We can’t wait to welcome you all back to The Knapp on Wednesday 8th July. Things will be very different to what we are used to so please be patient with us while we get used to the new ways of working. It will be new for everybody but we promise you we will do everything we can to keep you safe so you can enjoy a nice cold pint again.
There will be signs as you come in letting you know details of how we now have to operate.
PLEASE PLEASE don’t turn up if you have any symptoms, even if you think it’s just a cold ‘coz we don’t want to upset anyone by refusing them.
The beer garden is all ready for you to enjoy the sunshine (hopefully lots of sunshine).
