Today Is World Mental Health Day

Barton House Surgery promotes Mental Health Awareness:

Staying mentally well is just as important as staying physically well. The last 18 months have been a challenging and disruptive time for all.
One in four people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year. We’re getting better at talking about our mental health, and there are loads of services out there to help if you’re having a hard time, or just want someone to talk to.

We are all different and what works for one, may not work for others – below is a list of links of different services available to you that offer advice on symptoms, conditions, and how you can look after your mental health.

Support Your Surgery Campaign – Please Share

Launched by the British Medical Association (BMA), a petition calling on the UK Government to provide the urgent resourcing needed to increase the number of GPs in England.

GPs and their teams have faced an extremely challenging time during the COVID-19 pandemic. The restrictions have meant that face-to-face contact with patients has been limited in order to keep practice staff and patients safe.

The Support Your Surgery campaign provides GP practices with the tools to both manage expectations and to provide patients with the reality of issues facing general practice.

With the number of GPs falling (due to lack of recruitment and retention) whilst the population rises, demands on GPs are higher than ever. There are millions of patients whose treatment has been delayed due to the pandemic, more tests to administer and additional bureaucracy. GP workload is becoming unmanageable.

GPs and their teams cannot meet this challenge without more support. In signing the petition, the BMA are calling on the UK Government to provide the funding and commitment needed to urgently increase the number of GPs, practice nurses and other practice staff and to improve the premises in which they work. This will help GP practices in England to meet the growing needs of people in our communities, providing the care we and our families need.

Please sign the petition HERE.

Thank you.
