Becca’s New Shop In Bridport

Opened earlier this month in South Street, Bridport – Becca’s Fabric Larder.

Becca left Redlands Yard last August and has been working from her van ‘Florry‘ at markets and village halls. Now located at StudioOne, Becca stated: “The space neatly divides up to teaching & shop space. Great access, no steps or tricky slopes! If you haven’t said Hi yet, pop by. The shop is stocked up with goodies & all the essential cutting equipment, markers, pins, needles, rulers, wadding & ribbons. New fabrics arriving regularly and classes every week.
The class room has sewing machines if you need them, to save you lugging them from the car park. Any problems booking or you’d prefer to do it over the phone, please don’t hesitate to call.”

Spaces Remaining At 8 Week Patchwork Course

There are spaces remaining at Becca’s Fabric Larder’s 8 week Patchwork course which started on Monday, 24th January at the Comrades Hall in Broadwindsor.

Week 1. Snail’s Trail.. various versions & colour inspiration.
Week 2. Mini Dreson Plate, or normal if you haven’t done one before.
Week 3. Satin stitch Applique. A butterfly or Rose of Sharon design.
Week 4. Alphabet squares… making initials, design a word or just one letter in squares & triangles.
Week 5. Cut back applique / funky florals.
Week 6. A machine quilting lesson. A main pattern of leaf or tree with background infil.
Week 7. Happy Scrappy. Crazy applique, reflecting on different styles & their effects.
Week 8. Hexagon hues & a honey bee!
Week 9. Bonus week.. Circles & suffolk puffs.

Today and for the foreseeable future, Becca and her Fabric Mobile shop, Florry will be at the Comrades Hall on Mondays. Her Patchwork course will be taking place in the morning and if you need any fabric, threads, etc. Florry will be open for business from 2.30pm in the Car park.

Beccas Fabric Larder Is Back

Having been located at Broadwindsor Craft Centre, now Redlands Yard in recent years, Beccas Fabric Larder is now a mobile shop and will be revisiting Broadwindsor’s Comrades Hall on Monday, 7th June. With her lorry (van) called Florry, Becca Balazs will be running a six week patchwork course. Limited to ten places at each session.

Book your 2.5 hour slot. The premises has to be vacated by 3pm, so the last slot available is at 12 noon.

Becca aims to introduce you to techniques & patterns you may not encounter on your own at home (or on YouTube!). If you have a particular project you need help with please do bring it along & hopefully Becca will be able to help.

As well as learning some traditional patchwork & quilting techniques, you are encouraged to create your own patchwork, whether it is a quilt, wall hanging or smaller projects you would like to make. Brush up on rotary cutting, piecing, templates, applique & machining as well as building confidence choosing colours and fabrics & maybe getting out of your comfort zone.
Patterns and advice sheets are all included.

Beccas Fabric Larder Relocating From Redlands Yard

The Fabric Larder, originally Beccas Quilt Emporium started in 1999. Becca was hoping to celebrate 21 years with a Walk About exhibition in September. This will have to wait. Here is what Becca had to say:

A letter from Becca:

“The Craft Centre [Redlands Yard] notified us all that they are making changes. This includes major development of the centre, and due to their changes they have asked me to give up StudiOne which many of you have enjoyed mine & other craft classes.
I was so looking forward to getting back to teaching in September and making exciting plans to celebrate 21 years of business.
As you know the teaching is a huge part of The Fabric Larder and I am afraid one doesn’t survive with out the other. With all the changes & disruption to come on the site and with out teaching space, running solely a shop isn’t viable so I am looking to relocate!!
I am not in a hurry to relocate but will only be open at the centre [Redlands Yard] until 25th August.
I have viewed a few places but also with the virus still lurking & economic hardship to many I have decided not to rush anything.

In the mean time. . .

I have a trusty van called Florry. She is currently a van with a bed & cooker, but how about I change that around to shelves & fabric! I will mail you about that later. OR, if you would like to express interest on me visiting your group with a mobile shop in your area please email me HERE.

Units At Redlands Yard

THE WOBBLY COTTAGE
Open 🙂 Tuesday – Friday 10am – 2.30pm and Saturday 10am – 1.30pm.
Rich & Dani: “Having been open all the way through Lockdown and adjusting accordingly we are getting back to normal a bit more and generally have stock to sell from the counter with an ever changing selection of bread and baked goodies. Beewraps are back in stock and we are also back to making small batches of preserves. We can take orders to secure loaves etc.. and are still offering a delivery service to those that can’t get to us although we are asking that anyone that can come up to the bakery please do so.”
On Fridays – they are also taking delivery of fresh flowers from Beaminster’s Lovette Farm.

EARTH DESIGN

Lisa and Paula will update their Facebook page when they get back to normal hours, hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
“We have sanitizer at the door for everyone to use. Masks must be worn. We have a One way system and social distancing markings on the floor. A limit of how many customers are in the shop at the same time. A safety screen around the till area. All safety measures are working well and it’s been lovely seeing our customers again.”
