Sally’s 20th & Final Race For Life

Village resident Sally Sarling celebrates her 72nd birthday today 🙂 and we wish her many happy returns.

Sally will also be celebrating 20 years participation in the Race For Life, raising funds for Cancer Research UK, taking part in the 5Km race in Poole on Saturday, 3rd June. That’s quite an accomplishment!

Sally recently announced that this would be her final year. She began running in the Race For Life after both her parents and her badminton partner died from cancer.
1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and cancer survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.

Meet Rick Dyke – Broadwindsor’s New Councillor

Hursey resident Rick Dyke has been co-opted to Broadwindsor’s Group Parish Council to represent the Broadwindsor ward.

Since moving to Hursey with his wife Sara in 2020, Rick has been a regular volunteer at Broadwindsor Community Stores and is also a member of the Broadwindsor Community Pub Steering Group.

Rick is very interested in environmental issues and assists the local ECO Group in recycling items not currently collected by the council. Rick also supports many charities and is a committee member of the City of London branch of Cancer Research UK and an ambassador for ‘Hand of’, a charity that gives children and young people unique creative opportunities to work alongside professional artists, musicians, archivists, academics and more..

We welcome Rick and wish him the very best for his new role.

Sunday 22nd August – Cream Tea & Walk With Beaminster’s Young Farmers

Beaminster’s Young Farmers have organised a local walk starting at 2pm on Sunday, 22nd August with a delicious Cream Tea afterwards.

There will also be a raffle and a Sweet Jar Competition 🙂

Just show up at Drimpton’s Village Hall on Sunday 22nd August to join in – put it in your diary!
