Pharmacist Mike Hewitson has just announced that they are happy to accept walk-ins today at Beaminster Town Hall from now until approx 17.00hrs.
Sam Crowe, Director of Public Health for Dorset Council and Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council said:
“With the emergence of the Omicron variant alongside existing high infection rates locally, it’s more important than ever that we all continue to play our part in protecting ourselves and each other from the risks of COVID-19. We are working closely with the NHS to support the expansion of the booster programme, and getting your booster is the best way to protect yourself from serious illness caused by any variant of COVID-19, so I urge everyone to get yours as soon as you can.
“Nationally, we can see that Omnicron is spreading quickly, and whilst there are still a lot of unknowns about this variant, the principles to help us reduce transmission remain the same. Vaccination alone will not stop the virus from spreading, so to be able to live safely with COVID-19, we do need to keep taking these precautionary measures.
“This includes taking regular rapid tests to check you’re not infectious, particularly before meeting others or attending gatherings, make sure you have plenty of ventilation, and wearing a face covering in indoor, crowded spaces. If we all follow these measures now and get boosted as soon as ossible, we can hopefully prevent the need for further restrictions and keep doing the things we all enjoy”
There are several ways to get your booster jab:
It’s busy – keep trying, be patient and be kind

A new deadline of 1st December 2021 has been set to help ensure everyone who wishes to remain on the register for social housing has time to re-register.
Existing applicants were contacted over the summer about the changes and interim arrangements have been put in place to support people who have a change in circumstances or an urgent housing need.
For anyone with the ‘local connection‘ criteria who is interested in applying for the Broadwindsor Group Parish Community Land Trust development in Drimpton, they should note on their application that they are applying for CLT housing. (broadwindsorgroupparishclt.org)
New deadline gives more time:
Originally customers were advised they needed to re-register by 1st October 2021, but a new deadline of 1st December 2021 has been set to help ensure everyone who wishes to remain on the register for social housing has time to re-register.
Bidding for properties
Existing applicants will be able to continue to bid for properties that become available on the current system until the end of November 2021.
What about new applicants?
They are also opening the new register for people who want to apply for the first time from 1st October 2021. They will be updating their website where applicants can create a new customer account and submit a new application.
They will prioritise the assessment of all customers who are carrying out a re-registration process in the first instance but submitting your application and required documents early will mean new applicants can benefit from an earlier effective date.
These applicants will be able to bid for properties from 1st December 2021.

The Place I Love project successfully launched in Broadwindsor on Saturday with an exhibition by local artists at Comrades Hall.
Many paintings sold and a great deal of interest and enthusiasm for the community project, which is being led by village resident Margery Hookings on behalf of Windrose Rural Media Trust.
Rural media charity Windrose is a creative organisation bringing together communities in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire, through film, audio and heritage.
The Place I Love project includes researching village field names and folk songs. It will culminate in an interpretive map by artist Megan Edwards to be unveiled in Broadwindsor in February.
Margery said: ‘The project is all about respecting and caring for the place in which we live and those who work within it. At the launch we had some great feedback from people of all ages about what they loved about the village, from its many facilities and landmarks, including the community shop, church and primary school, but the key thing that came through was Broadwindsor’s community spirit and glorious landscape.’
Margery will be handing over the information gathered on post-it notes to Megan to help her shape the map, which will be installed in a central location in the village for all to see.
‘I would like to say a massive thank you to all the very talented artists who took part, to those who helped set up and take down and to the WI ladies in the kitchen dishing up delicious cakes and teas.
‘My friend Donna Heys (main picture) put in a massive amount of work, exhibiting, co-ordinating her art group and running the refreshments side. It wouldn’t have happened without her drive and imagination’
Artwork by children from Broadwindsor Primary School
was also on display.
Margery said: ‘The school has been very enthusiastic in getting on board with this project, which is lovely to see.
‘It turned out to be much more than an art exhibition, with new contacts made and new ideas that look set to add additional strands to The Place I Love project.’
The project is being funded by Dorset Council’s Community and Culture Project Fund, Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’s (AONB)Sustainable Development Fund, the National Community Lottery through the AONB’S Stepping Into Nature Project and Broadwindsor Group Parish Council.
