As you probably know, David’s favourite shop was Oxfam. Please feel free to dress casually, informally and in your everyday clothes with lots of colour. This is what he would have wanted. ♥️

David John Leader, 24.11.1957 – 13.03.2022

It is with the heaviest of hearts to announce the sudden and tragic death of David Leader.

The Parish council described David as “An inspirational Parish Councillor, colleague and friend. The breadth of David’s active involvement in the local community including Comrades Hall, Hursey Common, the Community Shop, The White Lion, the Community Land Trust and School to name but a few is a true testament to his generous character and his passion for helping others….”.  A formal tribute will be paid to David at their next meeting on 21st March.

Our community is in shock.  The legacy David leaves behind is legendary. A valued friend of the Editor, our thoughts and prayers go to Elaine, Ryan and Rosie at this extremely sad time.  Arrangements will be published when known.

Elaine, who provided the lovely photograph, wants people to know they are so very grateful for the enormous gestures of love and support from friends and the community. “The flowers are beautiful and we are so grateful but going forward I think David would prefer for donations to be directed towards the Ukraine crisis.

Plant A Tree For Mothers Day – Sunday, 14th March

With just a week until Mother’s Day, some may have consumed enough chocolate throughout Lockdown so why not consider something a bit different?  The National Trust are giving you the opportunity to dedicate a single sapling or up to half a hectare of woodland to your Mum this Mother’s Day and you’ll be helping to support their aim to plant 20 million trees by 2030:

  • £5 will buy a tree sapling.
  • £50 will buy 10 tree saplings.
  • £250 will plant 50 square metres.
  • £500 will plant 100 sq.m.
  • £2,500 will plant one fottball pitch (half a hectare!).

You can choose your amount and choose if it is in memory of someone or a celebration. At the moment, you are unable to ‘tag’ a specific tree, or choose a location for a tree to be planted. However, they have the ambition to plant 20 million trees by 2030, and your donation today can directly help create a living memorial that benefits nature for everyone, for ever. 🙂

Donate & Dedicate Your Tree HERE.
