Village Resident Has Dog Poo Bags Thrown In Garden

An anguished plea has come from village resident, Adrian Gray who resides at The Hayes, opposite Common Water Lane in Broadwindsor:
Please can those who walk their dogs along the private track in front of my property at The Hayes please stop doing so.
I understand that the public path by the church is overgrown but since you have now taken to throwing your bagged up dog mess into my front garden, I really don’t think I should put up with your trespass anymore.”

PLEASE, PLEASE – BE A RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNER!

You can report dog fouling directly to the department at Dorset County Council online HEREA dog warden may then contact you and/or visit the area to assess how severe the problem is and take the appropriate action to deal with the problem.  However, local councillor David Leader has asked if you have any information on dog fouling to contact him on: 01308 868274 or 07867 608652.

Get Your Ideas Included in the Government’s Transport Decarbonisation Plan

The Government is running a public consultation, which is actually a fairly short and friendly questionnaire. No expert knowledge is needed, and you’re not expected to write an essay – the spaces for answers are just few lines long, though they can expand if you have more to say.
The closing date to have your say is Monday, 31st August 2020. Your views will assist in drafting the plan, and deciding on the steps the Government take to decarbonise transport.

The current policies to decarbonise transport don’t go far enough.  Specifically, electric cars – while important – aren’t a silver bullet: we also need to be making fewer journeys by car and more by public transport, on foot and by bike.
At Campaign for Better Transport, they hope that as many people as possible will take this opportunity to speak up for sustainable transport. To show how much we care about buses, trains and trams, walking and cycling, car-sharing and zero-emission vehicles.   You can also remind the Government too that sometimes we’d like to travel less!  You can suggest whatever you want.

Take the Government survey HERE.

Beccas Fabric Larder Relocating From Redlands Yard

The Fabric Larder, originally Beccas Quilt Emporium started in 1999. Becca was hoping to celebrate 21 years with a Walk About exhibition in September. This will have to wait. Here is what Becca had to say:

A letter from Becca:

“The Craft Centre [Redlands Yard] notified us all that they are making changes. This includes major development of the centre, and due to their changes they have asked me to give up StudiOne which many of you have enjoyed mine & other craft classes.
I was so looking forward to getting back to teaching in September and making exciting plans to celebrate 21 years of business.
As you know the teaching is a huge part of The Fabric Larder and I am afraid one doesn’t survive with out the other. With all the changes & disruption to come on the site and with out teaching space, running solely a shop isn’t viable so I am looking to relocate!!
I am not in a hurry to relocate but will only be open at the centre [Redlands Yard] until 25th August.
I have viewed a few places but also with the virus still lurking & economic hardship to many I have decided not to rush anything.

Beccas's Fabric Larder

In the mean time. . .

I have a trusty van called Florry. She is currently a van with a bed & cooker, but how about I change that around to shelves & fabric! I will mail you about that later. OR, if you would like to express interest on me visiting your group with a mobile shop in your area please email me HERE.

Classes:

I am sussing out town & village locations for pop up classes & patchwork surgeries! Help with on going projects will be at hand! Keep signed up to the news letter to wait for more information & dates.

OPEN HOURS UNTIL 25th AUGUST.  (L A S T  D A Y in Broadwindsor)

Tuesdays – Friday 10:30-4pm
Saturdays 10:30-3pm

CAFE OPEN.
I have a small 1/2 price Fabric Sale & bargain baskets. Stock up with your wadding / calico/ plains / essentials”

National Allotments Week 2020 10th – 16th August

With lovely sunshine forecast, the theme for 2020’s National Allotments Week is Growing Food for Health and Well-being, a reflection of the many benefits of growing, cooking and eating your own fruit and vegetables.

National Allotments Week started in 2002 as a way of raising awareness of allotments and the role they play in helping people to live healthier lifestyles, grow their own food, develop friendships and bolster communities. The campaign week is still thriving 18 years later and interest in growing your own fruit and vegetables has never been stronger since the WW2 Grow for Victory campaign.
They ran a competition last month asking for ‘My Allotment Story‘ from entrants in the form of videos and storyboards, the winner will be announced on August 10th.
