Pattemores is proud to be a family business.   Established 80 years ago, they specialise in ex farm milk collection and the transportation of bulk liquids for the Dairy Sector, incorporating Pattemores Dairy Ingredients and Pattemores Transport (Crewkerne) Ltd. 

They are currently looking for Class 1 HGV/LGV drivers on both a casual and permanent basis for tanker work.

The job will involve working some weekends and include the collection of milk from farms around the area or delivery of bulk liquid dairy products to customers.

Experience of tanker work is not essential as training will be given.

Rural Ranges Ltd are a small but growing family run business located at Pineapple Business Park at Salway Ash, near Bridport.  With over 18 years experience in the AGA and Rayburn trade, they offer everything from a routine service to a complete AGA installation including base chimney, fuel source and, of course, the AGA or Rayburn itself. They also have a small online shop.

They have a part time position for a highly motivated individual with exceptional customer service skills to enable and maintain an exemplary customer experience throughout the buying process. They believe in selling with integrity and honesty, finding the best fit for their customer and producing the bespoke product they desire. For their clients anything should be possible and they believe in going the extra mile to help realise their dreams.

The successful candidate will work alongside the director to secure sales, improve sales processes and documentation and further develop the shop side of the business. Working hours will be untaken over 2 days (14.5 hours) – some flexibility of these hours may be considered but availability to work Mondays and either Wednesdays or Thursdays is essential. There is strong potential for growth of this role over time.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Responding to customer enquiries with knowledge and enthusiasm via both telephone and written means.
  • Securing sales and encouraging trade.
  • Following up on all sales with correct documentation and liaising with customers throughout the buying process, including after sales service and the ongoing relationship with their customers.
  • Greeting visitors to our showroom and demonstrating the appliances with knowledge and confidence
  • Producing quotations, invoicing and job specifications.
  • Developing social media content.
  • Development of their online shop offering, including website updates.
  • Packaging shop purchases and booking courier collections.
  • Ordering of stock and liaising with suppliers.
  • General administration and filing.
  • Housekeeping/cleaning of the working environment.

Essential:

  • Strong Sales experience.
  • Flexibility and adaptability – as a member of a small business, your role will be varied, you will need to be able to meet any given challenge.
  • Good time management – this is a mixed role, where there may frequently be conflicting demands on your time. You will need to prioritise and effectively manage limited working hours.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Friendly and professional telephone manner.
  • Excellent literacy skills.
  • An appreciation of the demands of a high-end clientele – being accommodating and going the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction.

Advantageous:

  • Experience of working within a similar small business.
  • Previous knowledge / experience of Aga Cookers and / or Woodburner products.
  • Experience of online sales.
  • Experience of website building, including Squarespace or similar products.
  • Strong social media experience.

  • Salary: £7163 – £7917.

Administrative duties such as typing up minutes may be carried out more flexibly at home or in school to suit the successful candidate. Experience in a similar post would be advantageous but training can be given and support is provided by Dorset Governor Services and via the National Governance Association (NGA).

They  are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to be Clerk to the Governors. You will play a vital role, supporting the Governors with the guidance they need. It will involve working closely with the Headteacher and Chair to ensure the smooth and effective running of the Governing Body.

You will have excellent administrative, organisational, ICT and literacy skills, working under your own initiative. You will oversee the organisation of meetings, record accurate minutes and advise on changes in legislation, policy and governance issues (ongoing training and support provided). The ability to remain impartial, comply with data protection legislation and maintain confidentiality is essential.

It’s National Apprentice Week!

Running from 8th – 14th February, the theme for the 14th annual National Apprenticeship Week is ‘Build the Future’.

The aim is to encourage everyone to consider how apprenticeships help individuals to build the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career.  The week showcases the impact apprenticeships can have on communities, local businesses and regional economies and how they all benefit from the impact of apprenticeships.

To support National Apprenticeship Week 2021, individuals, employers, training providers and communities are being encouraged to get involved, to celebrate apprenticeship.

In November 2020, Broadwindsor.org published an article for local employment at Heavers of Bridport as they were offering three Apprentice positions at that time.  Today, Ross Heaver responded with this update:
“We hired three apprentices in the end. All are doing very well and are undergoing their training programme and down the line, they should be all be fully qualified installers. It is great to offer employment and opportunities for young people during these times.“

This is fantastic news & well done to both Heavers & their Apprentices!
