Weldmar at Home offers end of life care to patients in their own homes, and they’re looking for an experienced nurse who will play a critical role in the co-ordination of the service.

If you are a registered nurse with a drive and enthusiasm for palliative care, and improving the experience of patients and families, they’d love to hear from you.

Your specialist knowledge and leadership skills will enable you to support the Team Leader in the continued development of Weldmar at Home, and the delivery of this high quality, flexible, rapid response and integrated nursing service in people’s homes across Dorset.

You should possess, or be working towards, a degree in palliative care or related nursing subject, with at least three years registered nurse experience, at a senior level.

Since launching in May 2021, Weldmar at Home has delivered more than 2,000 home visits to over 130 patients, receiving excellent feedback, and is already established as an essential part of the end of life services that Weldmar Hospicecare provide.

As this role will be patient facing, and we adhere to the government guidelines given to the independent health sector regarding Covid vaccinations, we would require evidence of vaccinations prior to employment.

Thank You From Zoe Raymond

You may remember 11yr old Zoe Raymond from Blackdown putting out a request at the end of September for your used stamps in memory of her Grandad Lloyd Curtis (You can read the original post HERE).

A happy Zoe delivered her first donation to Weldmar Hospice yesterday.

The total weight of the used stamps collected was 72 oz (just over 2 kg) which converted into a £40 donation to the Weldmar Hospice.

Zoe continues to collect used stamps for her second donation. If you have any stamps (please leave at least 1cm of envelope around the stamp) please contact Zoe and her Mum, Sonia on 01460 30471 who will arrange their collection.

Collect Your Postage Stamps For Weldmar Hospice

This is 11 year old Zoe Raymond from Blackdown and she is collecting postage stamps to raise funds for the Weldmar Hospice. The stamps need to have at least 1cm of envelope around them.

She is collecting them in memory of her grandad Lloyd Curtis, who died earlier this year. If anyone has any, then please call 01460 30471 and Zoe’s mum can collect them.

Farewell Lloyd Curtis

This morning, members of the Parish Council and local community applauded as Lloyd Curtis drove through the village on the back of a trailer which looked absolutely beautiful in it’s simplicity in today’s beautiful sunshine.

The Group Parish Council commented on social media: “ Lloyd was a long-standing member who made such a positive contribution to the Council, he had an amazing local knowledge and a true community spirit. Lloyd will be greatly missed by all and the Parish Council offers its sincere condolences to his family.”

Lloyd Curtis’ Funeral Arrangements

Local Farmer and Councillor for Burstock Ward, Lloyd Clifford Curtis (65yrs) who died on 1st June, will have a farewell drive past in Broadwindsor Square tomorrow morning at approximately 11.10am. The service will take place at 12 noon in St. Andrew’s church in Burstock and will be conducted by The Reverend Canon David Baldwin. The service will be broadcast outside the church.
There will be standing room in the graveyard, in the field around the church and on the entrance to the church. Please observe social distancing rules.

Our deepest condolences go to his wife Alison, his children Sonia, Emma and Stuart, and his grandchildren.

Grand Silent Auction Starts March 12th

Starting today and running until Sunday, 28th March, the Rotary Club of Lyme Regis are hosting a Grand Silent Auction of Goods & Promises.

The event will be hosted online and is raising funds for Lyme Regis Food Bank, Julia’s House, Weldmar Hospicecare and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Weldmar’s Christmas Tree Recycle Plan Cancelled

STOP PRESS: Double Barrows from Frampton nr. Dorchester has just stepped in to replace the service offered by Weldmar Hospicecare. Details are TBC but they’re hoping to bring their green waste mulcher to Beaminster this Friday 8th Jan, where you can drop your tree off or they can collect from you.
A fee will be charged to cover their costs but a good donation will go to Weldmar Hospice.

On 30th of last month, Weldmar publicised their Christmas Tree Recycling campaign. On Monday 4^th January the Prime Minister announced the immediate national lockdown that has come into force to help manage the Covid-19 pandemic. Sadly, the lockdown means that Weldmar Hospicecare are simply no longer able to continue with the scheme as planned and are left with no other option than to cancel their plans.

They are devastated that they are unable to continue with the scheme this year after what was promising to be their most successful to date. This comes after an extremely challenging year for fundraising events and activities at Weldmar, with them not holding any events or fundraisers such as this since January last year. They are extremely sorry to everyone who supported the scheme and of course will be offering a full refund.

They can offer you two option:

Firstly, they would be extremely grateful if you felt that your donation could still be used by their dedicated team at Weldmar Hospicecare to continue providing vital end of life care with compassion, dignity and respect to those who need us right now. They promise to ensure that your support will be invested in the best possible way right here in Dorset. Without any fundraising events or activities and our shops closing once more, your donation truly will make a massive difference.

Weldmar’s Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme

For a fourth year, Weldmar Hospicecare’s Christmas Tree-cycle project returns:

You can book a collection for your real Christmas tree. You must book your collection by the end of Monday. 4th January 2021. In return they suggest a minimum donation of £10.

With not being able to hold any fundraising events this year, Weldmar Hospicecare are hoping that their Christmas Tree-cycle will be bigger than ever, in partnership with Trinity Street Christmas Trees who are making the collections on their behalf and helping to dispose of the trees in an eco-friendly manner.

Local collections will be –

Beaminster – Saturday 9th January
Bridport – Sunday 10th January

All you need to do to secure a collection is complete the form at the bottom of the page HERE with all of your details and the donation.

Please remember:

Real Christmas trees only, no taller than 8ft
They could pick up your tree anytime between 8am and 7pm so have it ready to go!
Please take all the decorations off your tree and place it outside the front of your house (avoiding blocking any pavements or roads), and where it won’t be necessary for volunteers to need to open gates etc.
Place trees outside the day before collection to ‘air’ and reduce the risk of contamination
They cannot return to make a later collection if your tree is not ready for collection

Weldmar Hospicecare is a charity that provides end of life care for people living in Dorset who need our specialist support. Their compassionate approach supports patients and their families, medically and in other ways, in the community, in their hospice and at home. All their services are provided free of charge and they are fully reliant on public donations.
