Derek Bond was welcomed and kept busy at the beginning of the month when he visited The Comrades Hall.
Intended to be on the first Friday of each month, next Friday is Good Friday and there will be no Post Office services so Derek is coming in on Tuesday morning instead at 10am.
Bring along your watches that have been lying in drawers for years or that old clock that stopped working… how long ago? Derek also offers replacement batteries or watch straps.
Customers will need to pay for any replacement parts used but Derek is only requesting a small donation for his services to go to the Post Office Users Group fund 🙂
Parishioners will be familiar with village residents Phil & Lauren Rosenburg performing a selection of lovely songs at last years BFG Jubilee celebrations. We are fortunate to look forward to an evening’s acoustic performance from them both with their guest Andy Smith performing classic Rock & Pop songs from the 1960’s to the present day.
Doors open (and the bar*) at 6.45pm on Friday, 28th April at The Comrades Hall. The performance begins at 7.30pm.
*Beer, wine & soft drinks will be available.

At 7.30pm at the Comrades Hall on Friday, 21st April, Broadwindsor’s Community Film Club will be showing…
A cinematic odyssey exploring David Bowie’s creative and musical journey. Running time: 2hrs 15mins.
Moonage Daydream had its world premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival on 23rd May 2022. From Oscar nominated film-maker Brett Morgen, Moonage Daydream is an immersive cinematic experience; an audio-visual space odyssey that not only illuminates the enigmatic legacy of David Bowie, but also serves as a guide to living a fulfilling and meaningful life in the 21st century.
Told through sublime, kaleidoscopic, never-before-seen footage, performances and music, Moonage Daydream is the first film, officially sanctioned by the Bowie estate, to explore Bowie‘s creative, musical and spiritual journey, guided by Bowie‘s own narration.
Bandleader, composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ whose interests ranged from rock, jazz, funk, soul and British folk to musical styles from Africa, Latin America and Asia; our village resident, our friend, Simon Emmerson‘s funeral will take place on Thursday, 6th April. Simon died peacefully on on Monday, 13th March.
‘There will be a live webcast shown in the Comrades Hall beginning at 12 noon. There is no dress code and those who wish to pay their respects to Simon are warmly welcome.
A pay bar will be available with all profits going to the White Lion community pub.
Warm wishes from Karen, Ted and Josie.’
From last night’s party organisers, John & Lynne Staff:
Our Village Party at the hall on Saturday was a stunning success. Thanks to our local band McIntyre with Wendy Shields and Brian Wing guesting. It would have been almost impossible without the generous donation from the Broadwindsor Fun Group and the support of all those who helped on the day. A big thank you also goes to Kate, Chloe and Louise for preparing the food and all those who helped on the bar. A special thanks goes to Margaret and Jane from the Broadwindsor Community Shop for their advice and support.
Not to forget the a huge thank you to all those who turned up!
A great evening, lets hope we’ll be able to do it again soon.
John & Lynne Staff

Next Saturday, 25th March, village residents are invited to a FREE party at the Comrades Hall from 7.30pm.
Village resident John Staff had the idea for pre-Covid residents to meet with new village residents who have arrived either during or since the pandemic 🙂
Admission is free but a ticket is required for entry (to help with catering numbers). Tickets can be obtained from Broadwindsor Community Stores or ask someone to pick one up for you! Inform or invite your new neighbours 🙂 Alternatively, telephone John Staff on 01308 868584.
Music will be provided by our village band, McIntyre led by Dave and Ann Shaw. Enjoy songs from as far back as the 1950’s through to the 1990’s that’ll get you on your feet dancing.
There will be a bar and light nibbles will be provided.
The event has been sponsored by Broadwindsor Fun Group whose Fun Day this year is on Sunday, 25th June.
