White Lion Opens For August Bank Holiday Monday

Not since ex- landlords Vikki and Spike managed the White Lion has it been open for the August Bank Holiday Monday….
It will be this Bank Holiday Monday from 12noon. 🙂

Many have requested this as the pub is usually closed all day on Mondays. Closing time will depend on how well it is being supported and the availability of the Committee’s Volunteers – so please support our Community Pub!

Cream Teas In The Garden – Sunday, 1st September

From 2pm on Sunday, 1st September, you are invited to enjoy a Cream Tea in the beautiful garden at Pipe House in Kittwhistle (DT8 3LG).

Raising funds for Blackdown Church, as well as delicious Cream Teas on offer there will be a:

On Sunday, 28th July at The White Lion, Clive will be offering a 2 course Christmas menu for £26.00.  It will be necessary to pre-order and pay a deposit of £10 per person.

Visit Anthony Honeyball’s Stableyards – Thursday, 12th September

As part of National Race Horse Week (7th – 15th September) there is the opportunity to visit local race horse trainer, Anthony Honeyball‘s stable yards at Potwell Farm, Mosterton, Beaminster, Dorset, DT8 3HG.

Over the past decade the farm has gradually evolved from a small stud with one barn and a tack room, to a thriving professional yard with 66 stables and facilities to support their resident athletes.

On offer is a 2 hour visit on Thursday, 12th September, 10:30am – 12:30pm.  Spaces are limited and were still available at the time of publishing.
The vast majority of yards outside of the main training centres are free to attend.

Entry is free but you do have to register if you want to visit – Register for your place to visit HERE.

Singers & Instrumentalists Wanted For ‘Gallery Quire’

The newly formed Broadwindsor Gallery Quire meets every other Tuesday in Comrades Hall at 7.30pm.

They are singing West Gallery music from the Thomas Hardy era . The tunes are catchy and easy to pick up and they would love to welcome new members from the village and surrounding areas 🙂

Not sure what West Gallery Music is? Check out https://www.wgma.org.uk/ for some general information about this style of music and song. The West Gallery Music Association is a charity. Established in 1990 as an association of singers, instrumentalists and scholars, it became a charity in 2017.

There are spaces for both for singers and instrumentalists, a range of voices, high and low and instruments to accompany the singing.
If you would like a taster session to see what goes on please do go along (next Tuesday, 25th) or contact Clare on 07816 490021 for more details.

They are a friendly bunch and look forward to meeting you soon.
