Monday’s Group Parish Council meeting, initially planned for Drimpton Village Hall will now take place online. This will enable more to take part to hear the Council’s discussions, particularly with regard to the future of the White Lion pub.
The Town Clerk issued the following this morning:
“In light of the rising number of COVID-19 cases, hospitalisations and deaths and the subsequent delay in the lifting of remaining social distancing requirements, the Chairman and Vice Chairman have today discussed the potential risks to Councillors, employees and members of the public in holding next week’s meeting in-person. Also taking into consideration the fact that Dorset Council is continuing to hold committee meetings remotely, a decision has been taken to hold Monday’s meeting on Zoom once again.”
Starting at 7.30pm

The first illustration details the planned development for Bernards’ Place play area in Broadwindsor. The application being made by the Comrades Hall Management Committee is a very large project involving installation of a new state of the art low carbon heating system in air source heating and installing solar panels onto the roof.
As well as this, an overhaul of the play equipment is planned as shown in the second illustration below.
All of this transformation is subject to getting funding, applications have been made to National Lottery and Low Carbon Dorset.
The full Planning Application, P/FUL/2021/01358 can be accessed by clicking HERE and is included in the Group Parish’s Agenda for their meeting on Monday evening.

The oldest rivalry in international football … At 8pm on ITV this evening, England play Scotland in their 2nd match of the UEFA EURO Cup at Wembley Stadium. The teams have not faced each other since a pulsating 2-2 draw at Hampden Park in 2017, a match which saw three goals in the final six minutes!
Gareth Southgate, his team and the English fans are all confident of victory having beat Croatia 1-0 last Sunday with a goal scored by Manchester City Forward, Raheem Sterling. At their 10th attempt, this was the first time England have ever won their opening match.
England are hoping that it will be a repeat of the classic encounter between England and Scotland at Euro 96. England won that day 2-0 with goals from Alan Shearer and Paul Gascoigne.
The Scots however, their first appearance in a major tournament in 23 years last week, were reminded of the disappointment of watching Scotland at the World Cup in Argentina 43 years ago as Patrik Schick from the Czech Republic put two goals in the back of Scotland’s net – one of them extraordinary from the halfway line. Steve Clarke and his team have a lot to do!
