Wobbly Cottage Bakery Relocates To Village Square

In 2 weeks time Rich and Dani will be closing the doors of their little bakery at Redlands Yard. Fear not they say, as they will be making a return just down the road in a very exciting new space in the heart of Broadwindsor.

They are currently working very hard on turning The Old Post Office (the old village shop) into their brand new bakery and the space has bags of potential. There will be new bakes, cakes and pastries as well as Local Honey, Beewrapuk will be back in stock plus so much more…
They also have a coffee machine incoming!

The Wobbly CottageThey hope to be back open by the second week in October, but with all things that require building works, this has to be fluid. Follow them on their Facebook page for updates and progress – clcik HERE.

They’re looking forward to seeing you all at the start of their new and exciting chapter!

We wish you every success Rich & Dani 🙂

Farmers’ Breakfasts At The White Lion

Wife of the Chairman of Broadwindsor’s Community Pub, Sara Dyke has issued the following news:

The beginning of meteorological autumn on 1st September also saw the third, very successful Farmers’ Breakfast in the comfortable environment of the White Lion community pub.

28 farmers and family members met at 10am and enjoyed a delicious full English breakfast cooked beautifully by Kate and her family with locally produced ingredients. Izzy Masey, Michelle Hughes and I were the waitresses and heard many murmurs of approval and compliments on the quality of the food. There were lots of empty plates to return to the kitchen which is always a good sign!

The aim of the group
with breakfast is not only to feed our hardworking local farmers, wives and farm workers, important as that is, but also to facilitate regular meetings where networking can take place, advice and support can be shared and also to provide an opportunity for education and innovation.

This month saw the first outside speaker attend, kindly organised by Andrew Frampton. The South West representative from Holland Tractors attended and talked about the new generation tractors which can be powered from methane from slurry lagoons.
He also went through tractor development over the last 20 years and other new technologies including driverless automated tractors which are entering the market.

The breakfasts are the first Thursday of each month and if you’d like to attend (this is limited to the farming community) please let Andrew Frampton know by the Tuesday of that week.
Andrew’s email is: farmerframpo@gmail.com.

– Sara Dyke

The fact that the signs on the photograph state ‘Monarchs Way‘ appears to have an additional significance!

Our Queen Elizabeth II Has Died

Tributes are pouring in from around the world for our Queen, Elizabeth II who died earlier this afternoon at Balmoral in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, surrounded by her family.

At the age of 96 years old and reigning for over 70 years, many will have known no other monarch in their lives. The 2nd Elizabethan era has ended.

At the age of 73 years old, her son King Charles III spoke of the death of his beloved mother “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished sovereign and a much-loved mother.”

Buckingham Palace stated that the King and his wife, Camilla, now Queen Consort, will return to London tomorrow, Friday 9th.

Our country’s longest ever reigning monarch, our Queen remained alert, engaged and working until the very end. The new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, was appointed by the Queen just two days ago.  Liz Truss said the Queen was” the rock on which modern Britain was built, who had provided us with the stability and strength that we needed“.

Queen Elizabeth II is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The UK will remain in a period of national mourning until the Queen’s state funeral after Buckingham Palace set in motion a detailed accession plan that has been honed over decades.

Operation London Bridge, as the Queen’s funeral plans are codenamed, will be combined with Operation Unicorn, the plan for a monarch dying at Balmoral, which is named after the national animal of Scotland.

The Queen Is Dead – Long Live The King!
