Wessex Water have commenced roadworks this morning in Back Lane with apparently no notice to residents. This has caused significant disruption and there is someone in place now diverting traffic.
There was an urgent road closure in effect in Main Street, Hursey (more HERE) but nothing about Back Lane this morning. Traffic, including buses and lorries travelled the wrong way down High Street towards the Comrades Hall only to meet traffic coming up the opposite way. This too may be urgent but no notification causes accidents. The police have been notified.
Please take care when driving through the village!
Wessex Water tweeted at approx. 1pm stating: “…sorry for the inconvenience caused. The team involved has advised us that the work has now been completed and traffic should soon return to normal. They’ll look into what went wrong on this occasion to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Thanks.”

A Pilsdon resident, Kelly Kimi is reaching out to neighouring villages with the following request:
“Hi everyone,
I’m looking for grazing for my small herd of 7 horses. Most are small ponies and live on fresh air, so I don’t need a huge field. 4-5 acres would suit us, although we have had much larger fields too.
Does anyone knows of anywhere nearby ?
I am tidy, knowledgeable, kind and committed to looking after my horse family. I have good references too.
Thanking people in advance, I can be reached by email on: kelimac_2000@yahoo.com.”

Did you receive some Lego this Christmas? On Monday, December 27th, grab your bricks and join thousands across the world as they get together to build anything and everything – all from the comfort of your living room, kitchen floor or cosy outer-space hideouts. It’s fun, it’s easy… it’s becoming a new global holiday tradition.
It works like this: You build something unique. Then you share it with the world by tagging it with #LEGOBuildDay. That’s it! You’ve joined the biggest build party on Earth. And possibly the universe. Have fun!
Once again the village is indebted to Chris Edgerley and his helpers who are restoring the historic phone box in the centre of the village.
They are doing a wonderful job and it will become a great library and book exchange for the use of all residents. Malcolm Heaver will make a purpose built shelving system using all his carpentry skills.
Our again sincere thanks to all the people who have brought this important landmark back to life.
Wendy Shields will manage the library on an ongoing basis.
