Shop Manager Kevin Wins The White Lion Cake

Kevin Madder-Smith, manager at Broadwindsor Community Stores won this glorious cake at this morning’s Three Churches Christmas Coffee Morning.

The cake was a portrayal of The White Lion Pub and was baked by Kate Staff. It raised £118 for the Save the White Lion fund.

Kate’s last cake raffled on Broadwindsor’s Fun Day raised a similar amount for a charity close to her home and heart, the Turner Syndrome Support Society. Read more HERE.

The morning was a successful one with good attendance and tasty, warm mince pies. The Three Churches raised a significant amount in their raffle too 🙂

Three Churches Coffee Morning Tomorrow, 10.15am

On Saturday, 4th December the Three Churches are holding a Christmas Coffee morning at the Comrades Hall in Broadwindsor from 10.15am – 12.15am.

Use Scout Post For Cards This Christmas

With an extensive delivery list, the Scout group are offering to post your Christmas cards for only 30p! Locally, there will be yellow post boxes in Broadwindsor Community Stores, The Royal Oak in Drimpton and Beaminster‘s Co-op. Running from 4th December – 18th December.

No stamp required!
Please check the address you are sending to is in one of their delivery areas.
Please ensure your card is correctly addressed and include the postcode if you know it.
Post your greetings cards in one of our many Yellow Post Boxes together with 30p for each card, we will do the rest 🙂
Deliveries are made by our small army of adult volunteers.
All proceeds will go directly to Scout Funds.

Can You Help?

They need willing volunteers who are able to spend four to five hours spread over a two week period at the beginning of December to sort or deliver Scout Post in our area. Volunteers provide a useful and popular community service as well as raising much needed funds to support your local Scout Groups. You will be making a real difference to local young people and be giving something back to the community. Don’t delay, please contact: scoutpost@dwdscouts.org.uk

Broadwindsor Fun Group’s Christmas Party – Saturday, 18th December

Tickets are now on sale at Broadwindsor Community Stores for the Fun Group’s Festive Celebration on Saturday, 18th December at the Comrades Hall from 7.30pm – 10.30pm. (The Comrades Arms will be closed this evening.)

Live Music is being provided by The Silver Lining Band. Festive classics alongside their rock ‘n roll repertoire.

A licensed bar will be provided by Kevin with 50% of the profits going to Broadwindsor Community Stores.

The ticket price of £8 for adults & £5 for under 18’s includes a plate of nibbles. If you require the vegetarian option or have any special dietary needs – please contact the group on bwfunday20@gmail.com at least 7 days before the event.

A Festive Hamper will be the prize of the raffle to be held at the end of the evening.

Ticket numbers have been reduced in view of the local Covid pandemic so when they’re gone – they’re gone!

It’s Christmas At Redlands Yard

A Stroke Of Art For Christmas 2022

If you have suffered a stroke, or a stroke survivor you know, who has a passion for painting, sketching, drawing or any other form of art, the UK’s Stroke Association would love to hear from you.

2021’s winner

Haydn Canter used to paint with his left hand and didn’t think he would ever paint again following his stroke. He was inspired by a local beauty spot in a park where he used to go to enjoy a snack with his dog. The rest comes from his love of winter.

As stockings are being hung on Christmas Eve, here are all the Advent windows which were assigned to and displayed by the villagers of Broadwindsor. The creativity and imagination shown was both incredible and beautiful. Well done to Rev. Jo for coming up with the idea, to all those who participated and thank you to Margery Hookings for providing most of the photographs.
