In a brand new one man show, ‘Unlock Me & other Lockdown Laments‘, Steve Knightley will perform material that surfaced over two years of isolation and inactivity. Songs such as the Bristol Slaver and You’ll Get By were refreshed by headlines and current affairs whilst classic covers such as Forever Young and The Boys of Summer struck a chord with the thousands that tuned in to his hours of online content.
Insights, anecdotes and a bunch of new songs will attempt to chronicle and draw a line under an extra episode in all our lives. BBC Radio 2 commented “Committed and distinctive songs of love, conscience and history” .
Steve will be performing at Broadwindsor’s Comrades Hall (High Street, Broadwindsor, DT8 3QP) on Friday, 29th September 🙂
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

August also brings us the most popular meteor shower of the year. As our planet rotates the sun, every August, the Earth crashes into a cloud of debris left behind by the comet Swift-Tuttle. As the debris burns up in the Earth’s atmosphere, it produces the meteor shower that we call the Perseids.
This year, the Perseid meteor shower is active between 17th July and 24th August. The shower will peak 12-13 August and if skies are clear, it can be one of the most dramatic things to see in the summer sky. Meteors can appear in any part of the sky so the more sky you can see the better…
Reduce the amount of light pollution in your field of view.
Find an area with a clear view of the horizon and away from trees and buildings.
Binoculars and telescopes are not necessary as they will restrict the size of the sky that will be visible to you.
Broadwindsor’s FareShare Larder will be at Drimpton this Friday and for the foreseeable future at the same times of 9.30 – 10.30am.
The initiative is led by the NHS & Dorset Council, led locally by Councillor Yvonne White & Vice-Chair Jacqui Sewell who were informed by email that the Comrades Hall Management Committee, with Megan Jones new at the Chair, were ‘very supportive’ but want to charge the group £12/session should the Hall be needed in wet weather.
Comments from local residents are saddened, disgusted and outraged.
There is already a list compiled of volunteers who will transfer the food to those in Broadwindsor who genuinely have no transport and are unable to get to Drimpton.
Anyone who lives in the parish area is eligible to become a member of this group. There is a maximum of 50 members. Find out more HERE (Note: the location is now Drimpton Village Hall).
This is a weekly membership scheme* aimed at helping people make their money go further by reducing food shopping bills – so unless a recognised referral agent refers you to the scheme, you must register to become a member. Application forms need to be requested by emailing: FSSouthernCentral@fareshare.org.uk. Once completed, proof of address/ID needs to be provided and you email the completed form to the same email address. Alternatively, it is a quick and easy process to complete and submit the form online – Click HERE.
