The White Lion Is Saved – Thank You!

A massive thank you! Not only have we smashed our Crowdfunder target of £30,000 but, with your generous donations by cheque, cash and BACs – together with funding from the parish council, Palmers and takings from The Comrades Arms – we now have nearly £50,000.

It’s an incredible achievement, and demonstrates how important a roaring White Lion is to this community. Once we have signed the tenancy agreement, which is imminent, work will start on refurbishing the inside of the pub and kitting out the kitchen.

We hope to have more news to tell you very soon. In the meantime, stand proud, Lions, you’ve done brilliantly. 🙂

Please Visit Wooly Wonders At Redlands Yard

Kirsty has had her Wooly Wonders unit at Redlands Yard since last June but is already threatened with closure due to lack of customers.
Redlands Yard showed their support by posting this message:

Our wonderful yarn shop here at Redlands Yard is proving popular on social media and with knitting stalwarts, but the current level of custom is not high enough to sustain Wooly Wonders as a business. We love having Kirsty here, with her fantastic knowledge and extensively stocked shop full of yarns and accessories, and we are keen to support niche businesses and interests such as this. However, if custom does not pick up, the shop will have to close. If you would like to see it stay open, please come along and support this excellent enterprise. Thank you.

Kirsty also posted on social media:

If you can support us, please do. We love our new home and would be sad to have to leave. A huge thank you to Redlands Yard for all your help and support.

Broadwindsor Art Friends – Exhibition In Beaminster

A new exhibition has opened at the Yarn Barton Centre in Fleet Street, Beaminster, featuring the work of Broadwindsor Art Friends – Donna Heys, John Iveson, Liz Ridley, Norma Roberts, Dorothy Rowe and Dave Shaw.

They are a small group of friends who are also amateur artists. They meet in a studio on a very informal basis twice weekly, to paint, draw or work on any individual project they choose.

There is no fee involved, nor tuition – just a group of friends drinking copious amounts of coffee and having a chat.

The friends all recognise that without a set session time, creativity would take a back seat to other parts of their lives in general.

Having these meeting times ensures they set aside time to enjoy their art. And of course they share ideas and ask advice of each other.

Please call in and take a look at what they do 🙂

The exhibition runs until the end of April.

Donna Heys was one of the artists who took part in the ‘Place I Love‘ launch in October ’21.

The Place I Love and the unveiling of our village map is on Saturday, 12th February at the Comrades Hall, 2-4pm. More info HERE.
